The Heartland History Series will focus on publishing books for a broad audience which focus on the history and culture of the American Midwest. Indiana University Press, in keeping with its long tradition of publishing books about the region, is launching this new series in conjunction with the recent burst of interest in the region’s history as indicated by the founding and success of the Midwestern History Association. The Heartland History series will acquire titles in the areas of regional history, literature, art, music, and architecture; environmental history; Midwestern places; Midwestern boundaries, real and imagined; and Midwestern regionalism and regional identity generally.
