Dina Porat: Defining and Monitoring Antisemitism: Current Challenges

Stay tuned to Indiana University’s Institute for the Study of Contemporary Antisemitism “Come and Learn” Webinar Program for when the event registration opens.

This presentation will highlight recent problems in defining and monitoring antisemitism. It will also focus on the mainstreaming of antisemitism into the center of society, the contrast between the underreporting of incidents in some countries and the meticulous reporting in others, the unidentified perpetrators, the lack of common criteria among the monitoring agencies and communities, and the need to put the WDA to better use.

Professor Dina Porat is Head of the Kantor Center for the Study of Contemporary European Jewry at Tel Aviv University and Chief Historian of Yad Vashem. Among her many publications are Vengeance and Recompense are Mine: The Yishuv, the Holocaust and the Abba Kovner Group of Avengers (2019) and The Fall of a Sparrow: the Life and Times of Abba Kovner (Stanford UP, 2010).
