Maurice Hinson, the most prolific writer on piano literature in the history of the instrument, taught for 58 years at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Kentucky. He was founding editor of the Journal of the American Liszt Society and the recipient of the Commemorative Medal by the Hungarian government for his contribution to research on Franz Liszt. Hinson is known for his many books on piano repertoire and journal articles, and for 300+ editions of piano works. His students have served in significant positions in universities and churches throughout the world. Wesley Roberts is Professor of Music at Campbellsville University, where he teaches courses in piano, organ, and musicology. He has also been a visiting professor at the French Piano Institute (Paris) and Shanghai Normal University (China). Roberts has presented concerts as pianist and organist throughout the United States, in Europe, and in China, as well as presentations at conferences of the Music Teachers National Association and the European Piano Teachers Association. Hinson and Roberts are coauthors of The Pianist's Dictionary, Second Edition, Guide to the Pianist's Repertoire, and The Piano in Chamber Ensemble.
"Enthusiastic aficionados of piano chamber music will applaud this superb compendium. Hours of informative browsing awaits."
~AUSTA National Journal
"Veteran piano pedagogues Hinson and Roberts have collaborated again for the third edition of the volume, which has been expanded and updated to include over 3,200 compositions by more than 1,600 composers. What Bennet Ludden noted in his review of the first edition still rings true for this edition: the volume continues to serve as "the major compendium of information about chamber music that involves piano as an equal partner." . . . The volume serves as a comprehensive reference resource for researching chamber music repertoire featuring the piano and will serve as a valuable resource for pianists, pedagogues, and libraries for years to come."
~Treshani Perera, University of Kentucky, Lexington, Music Reference Services Quarterly
"[This] guide can aid pianists and other instrumentalists in the selection of chamber music repertory at an entry level of discovery . . . Given the overall organization and the useful category headings at the top of each page, the user may find this volume as inviting for browsing and casual reading as for specific reference research."
~David A. Day, Brigham Young University
"Suffice it to say that the enlarged, expanded latest volume [of The Piano in Chamber Ensemble] is an even greater treasure trove of wonderful repertoire for pianists to explore when wanting to play in ensembles. ... This fine volume will ensure that pianists are never short of inspirational ideas when programming concerts of chamber music."
~European Piano Teachers Association
